Deloitte × HKU Co‑op – Company Visit

On 2 March 2026, applicants of the HKU Co‑operative Education Programme (Co‑op Programme) visited the Deloitte Hong Kong office for an inspiring and immersive professional exposure experience. The visit was thoughtfully coordinated and hosted by Ms. Georgiana YeungMs. Winsome Leung, and Ms. Chloe Wong from the Deloitte Campus Recruitment Team, whose warm hospitality and meticulous planning created a welcoming and engaging environment for students to explore Deloitte’s workplace culture. 

The programme included an office tour, a group photo session, and a dedicated networking segment that offered students valuable opportunities to connect directly with Deloitte professionals. A highlight of the visit was the alumni sharing session, where HKU graduates David, Polly, and Tony provided candid insights into their professional journeys, workplace experiences, and the values that shape Deloitte’s dynamic work environment. Their reflections offered relatable and inspiring perspectives to students considering a career in consulting and professional services.

Adidas Sourcing Limited (adidas) × HKU Co‑op – Company Visit

In mid‑October 2025, students who applied to the HKU Co‑operative Education Programme (Co‑op Programme) visited the Hong Kong office of Adidas Sourcing Limited (Adidas) for a comprehensive industry‑exposure experience. The visit was warmly hosted by Mr. Match Lai and Ms. Jess Pang from the Adidas Talent Acquisition team, with the participation of Prof. Samson Tse, Director of the HKU Co‑op Programme, who provided an introductory overview of the programme and its goals in fostering meaningful industry immersion. 

Throughout the visit, students gained firsthand insights into Adidas’ global sourcing operations, talent philosophy, and its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Match and Jess provided an in‑depth overview of adidas’ business structure and shared practical guidance on the competencies and growth mindsets valued within the organisation. They also introduced a range of early‑career opportunities suited for students aspiring to develop careers in the sportswear, apparel, and lifestyle sectors. 

A special highlight of the programme was a Co-op alumni sharing session featuring Ms. Karlin Cheng, a graduate of the HKU Co‑op Programme who previously served as a Material Planning and Process Management Intern at Adidas. Karlin shared her experience working within the sourcing function, offering students a relatable perspective on transitioning from university to a global corporate environment, collaborating with cross‑regional teams, and navigating real‑world challenges in supply chain and operations management. Her reflections provided invaluable insight into the professional growth that a Co‑op placement can offer. 

The visit also included interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, enabling students to speak directly with Adidas professionals. These exchanges helped participants deepen their understanding of the skill sets, work culture, and innovation‑driven mindset that characterise Adidas’ global operations. For many attendees, the session provided both clarity and inspiration as they considered joining the six‑month full‑time Co‑op Programme.

Manulife × HKU Co‑op – Career Insights Sharing Session 

On 23 February 2026, applicants of the HKU Co‑operative Education Programme (Co‑op Programme) attended an on‑campus career insights session delivered by Manulife, gaining meaningful exposure to career development pathways within one of the world’s leading financial services organisations. The session opened with an introduction to the Co‑op Programme by Prof. Samson Tse, Director of the HKU Co‑op Programme, who highlighted the importance of industry engagement in preparing students for future professional success. 

The programme featured insightful sharing from Ms. Sharon Wong, Managing Director & Associate Chief Counsel, and Ms. Carmen Chung, Head of Finance and Business Advisory at Manulife. Their discussions provided students with thoughtful perspectives on leadership, career growth, and navigating the evolving financial landscape. Students also benefited from an investment insights video delivered by Mr. Calvin Yip, Chief Investment Officer, Asia General Account Investments, coordinated by Ms. Cherrie Lui from the Campus Recruitment Team. 

A key highlight of the session was the alumni sharing segment, featuring Mr. Bosco Chan, Ms. Fay Gawsawadikul, and Ms. Vinci Lam, all graduates who have since built their careers at Manulife. Their experiences offered students valuable perspectives on transitioning from university to the workplace and insights tailored for those interested in investment‑related roles. 

Support from the Manulife Campus Recruitment Team — including Ms. Vonie Law and Ms. Quinn Wong — further enriched the session by facilitating student engagement and discussions on early‑career opportunities within the organisation. 

The event provided students with well‑rounded exposure to the financial services sector and meaningful insights as they consider future career pathways and the potential of a six‑month full‑time Co‑op placement. 

HKU Co-op Programme Kickoff Ceremony – A Memorable Start!

On 11 January 2025, HKU hosted the inaugural Onboarding Ceremony of the Co-operative Education Programme at the Convocation Room. The ceremony celebrated the eighteen pioneering students in the Co-operative Education Programme (“Co-op Programme”) and showcase the efforts of the University in fostering strong collaborations between academic and industry.

The ceremony featured inspiring speeches and interactive elements that engaged students, inviting them to share their expectations and aspirations for the Co-op program. It was a moment of collective inspiration and anticipation for the journey ahead. Professor Ian Holliday, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) gave a warm and welcoming speech at the ceremony, expressing heartfelt gratitude to supporting employer partners and faculties for being the founding collaborators in the Co-op Programme. Professor Pauline Chiu, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), highlighted the concept and the objectives of developing the Co-op programme. Dr Wilton Fok, Director of the Co-operative Education Office, and our enthusiastic employer partners, Ms Cathy Mak from CLP, and Mr Ivan Au from PwC, shared their insight and expectations on participating students. Their invaluable insight and supportive words actively enriched the event, providing a profound depth of encouragement and perspective to the occasion.

The Co-op Programme is an experiential learning initiative that allows students to gain hands-on experience through paid full-time employment for at least seven consecutive months. It underscores HKU’s commitment to providing students with experiential learning opportunities and preparing them for successful careers in their chosen fields.

This onboarding ceremony marked the start of the Co-op students’ 7-month internship journey and the launch of the Co-op Programme. It was also a remarkable occasion to express our gratitude to our employer partners for their incredible support in bringing the programme to fruition and creating impactful opportunities for our students.
